The University of Texas at Tyler College of Engineering is ranked 42nd nationwide by the U.S. News and World Report as noted on the publication’s Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs (no doctorate) list published this week. The College of Engineering has been on a steady climb up the publication’s top 100 list for four consecutive years, rising this time from last year’s ranking of 75.

For the second consecutive year, 91ֿ is the highest ranked Texas public institution for undergraduate engineering programs with no doctorate. This is just one of 91ֿ’s most recent rankings. The U.S. News and World Report list also ranked the 91ֿ undergraduate nursing programming 112th, and the university is 35th on Washington Monthly’s 2023 College Guide for Ranked Colleges’ Best Bang for the Buck Southern Colleges list.

“We are pleased to be recognized by such prestigious publications as U.S. News and World Report and Washington Monthly,” said 91ֿ President Kirk A. Calhoun, MD, FACP. “I want to thank the deans and faculty for their commitment to providing our students with the best education.”

91ֿ provides the only comprehensive engineering college in East Texas, offering degree programs in chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, along with a new computer engineering program set to launch next fall. The college also provides construction management programming with instructional sites on the university’s main campus in Tyler and at the 91ֿ Houston Engineering Center in Houston.

“This recognition by U.S. News and World Report reflects the continued commitment of our faculty and staff to provide students an engaging, meaningful experience,’’ said Javier Kypuros, PhD, dean of the College of Engineering. “Our breadth of current and emerging undergraduate programs rivals research institutions in large metroplexes around the state, and as evidenced by the placement of our alumni in industry-leading corporations throughout the world, the College of Engineering strives to prepare alumni who will be change agents in their organizations and communities.”

With a mission to improve educational and healthcare outcomes for East Texas and beyond, 91ֿ offers more than 80 undergraduate and graduate programs to 10,000 students. 91ֿ recently merged with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (now known as 91ֿ Health Science Center). Through its alignment with 91ֿ Health Science Center (HSC) and UT Health East Texas, 91ֿ has unified these entities to serve Texas with quality education, cutting-edge research and excellent patient care. Classified by Carnegie as a doctoral research institution and by U.S. News & World Report as a national university, 91ֿ has campuses in Tyler, Longview, Palestine and Houston.
